ANGELS BASEBALL ANNOUNCES 2009 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE SEASON SCHEDULE

ANAHEIM, CA – The 2008 American League West Division champion Angels today announced their regular season schedule for the 2009 campaign, which includes the home opener at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Monday, April 6, against the Oakland Athletics. The 2009 schedule is tentative with game times and TV schedule still to be determined.

The Angels begin 2009 with a season-opening seven-game homestand against Oakland (April 6-9) and the Boston Red Sox (April 10-12) before embarking on their first road trip to the Seattle Mariners (April 14-16) and Minnesota Twins (April 17-19).

The 2009 schedule features 12 homestands, including two season-long 10-game stints (July 2-12 and Sept. 21-Oct. 1), and 12 road trips. Included in the list of home games are two match-ups against the Boston Red Sox (also May 12-14) and two series versus the New York Yankees (July 10-12 and Sept. 21-23).

The Angels will again play 57 contests against West Division rivals Seattle, Oakland and Texas in 2009, including 13 of their final 16 games of the season. They finish on the road with a three-game series at Oakland (Oct. 2-4).

The 2009 schedule also features 18 interleague contests against National League West Division teams. The Angels will first play the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium (May 22-24) and then later begin a stretch of 15 straight interleague games in June. The Angels will host the San Diego Padres (June 12-14), then travel north to face the San Francisco Giants (June 15-17) before returning home for a six-game homestand against the Dodgers (June 19-21) and Colorado Rockies (June 22-24). The Angels will conclude interleague play with a three-game series at Arizona (June 26-28).
